Faculty Position in Mathematics of Data Science at Brock University
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Brock University invites applications for a probationary tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in the mathematics of data science, effective July 1, 2020.

About the department
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Brock University strives to achieve a diverse, flexible, innovative, modern curriculum for educating undergraduate and graduate students in both mathematics and statistics; training students to learn how to acquire further knowledge and skills related to these areas and their myriad applications; carrying out world-class research in modern areas of mathematics, statistics, and math education; connecting and linking with other Departments and Faculties in teaching and research.
About the position
The Department currently offers a BSc and an MSc in Mathematics and Statistics and is preparing to launch a new trans-disciplinary BSc in Data Sciences and Analytics as well as a new PhD Program in Computational, Mathematical, and Statistical Sciences jointly with the Department of Computer Science. The Department will also be contributing to the development and delivery of engineering programs at Brock University. The successful candidate is expected to have a primary role in the development of these current and new programs in mathematics, data sciences and engineering.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have recently completed a PhD in an area of mathematics related to data science (e.g., computational discrete mathematics, algorithmic and computational optimization, analysis of complex networks, etc.) by the time of the appointment, a record of or a strong potential for excellent and independent research that will attract external funding and an active program of fundamental and applied research in mathematical methods in data and information processing with applications to science and engineering problems. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in theoretical and computational discrete mathematics with applications to the data sciences, and the ability and the commitment to supervise graduate students.
